Why Energy Healing Isn't Woo-Woo (And Why Your Skepticism Might Be the Best Thing You Bring to a Session)

I'm going to say something that might surprise you coming from a Reiki Master, clairvoyant healer, and yoga teacher…I love skeptics.

Not because I enjoy converting people. Because skeptics pay attention. They notice what's actually happening in their body instead of projecting what they think should happen. They're honest. And honestly… some of my most profound client transformations have started with someone sitting across from me saying, "I don't think this is going to work."

So let's talk about it. Openly. Without the mystical vibes.

The Nervous System Is the Bridge

Here's what most energy healing practitioners won't tell you clearly enough: the primary mechanism through which Reiki and therapeutic yoga create change is the nervous system.

Your autonomic nervous system has two main modes. Sympathetic is your gas pedal….stress and alertness. Parasympathetic is your brake…rest, digest, heal, recover, etc. Most people walking around today are stuck with the gas pedal floored. Chronically. Their body has forgotten what the brake feels like.

Reiki and trauma informed yoga are tools that help your nervous system find your brake again. The warmth of hands on the body, specific breathing patterns, slow intentional movement, the safety of a held space… all of these are inputs that signal your nervous system to downshift.

When your nervous system downshifts, inflammation decreases. Pain signals quiet. Digestion improves. Sleep normalizes. Emotional regulation comes back online. This isn't magic. This is your body doing what it's designed to do when it finally feels safe enough to do it.

What About the Energy Part?

Fair question. Here's my take after doing this work with over 1,000 times: the energy component is real, and science is catching up.

Research on biofields, electromagnetic outputs of the human heart and hands, and the effects of intentional touch on physiology is growing. Anyone who's been on my table and felt heat radiating from my hands without physical contact isn't waiting for a peer-reviewed journal to tell them what they experienced.

I've been able to see energy…auras… since I was a kid. My grandmother was the first person to recognize it. I didn't learn this from a book. I live in this reality daily. And the practical application of what I see allows me to work with precision that most people don't expect from energy healing.

I can tell when someone's throat chakra is blocked before they tell me they've been holding back words for months. I can feel a grief pattern in someone's chest before they mention their loss. This isn't cold reading or guessing. It's a skill developed over a lifetime and refined through thousands of hours of practice and training. And it’s just how my energy works.

Why "Woo-Woo" Is Actually a Branding Problem

The energy healing world has a branding problem. Too many practitioners hide behind vague language and aesthetic. "Raising your vibration." "Activating your light body." "Aligning with source."

What does that even MEAN to someone who's dealing with panic attacks and nightmares at 3am?

I don't talk like that because it doesn't serve you. I talk about what's actually happening in your body, what I'm doing and why, and what you can expect. Precision and transparency aren't the opposite of spiritual work. They're what make spiritual work effective.

The Proof Is in the Practice

I don't need to convince you with words. I need to show you with results. And that's exactly what happens in my practice… whether it's a Reiki session, a private therapeutic yoga session, a Reiki class, or a breathwork workshop.

The person who comes in skeptical and leaves saying "What just happened?" … that's my favorite moment. Because something DID happen. And now they know it. And that experience happened to me too.

Try It. Test It. Decide for Yourself.

I'm not asking you to believe anything. I'm asking you to give your nervous system one session to show you what it can do when it's properly supported.

One session. That's all.
